| Education Mr. Padilla was born in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Padilla’s family has resided in Colorado
for several generations. Mr. Padilla received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of California at Berkeley in 1993. After completing his undergraduate studies, he returned to
Colorado to attend the University of Denver, College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Padilla
was a member of the Law Review, where his case comment “Vernonia School District 47 v.
Acton: Flushing the Fourth Amendment—Student Athletes’ Privacy Interests Go Down
the Drain,” was featured. Mr. Padilla was also a member of the
Transportation Law Journal and the Denver Journal of International Law &
Policy. Mr. Padilla received his Juris Doctorate in 1996. Mr. Padilla is admitted to practice before all state courts in Colorado and also before the
United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals
for the 10th Circuit. Practice Experience Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Padilla worked in the litigation departments of small,
medium, and large Denver firms, trying products liability, insurance defense, insurance coverage,
bad faith, construction defect, commercial litigation, and criminal defense cases. In 2001, he
became a partner in the law firm of Petersen, Thomas, Slade & Padilla, PLLC. In November of 2003, he opened the Law Offices of Joaquin G. Padilla, PLLC. Mr. Padilla’s
practice focuses on assisting businesses on their contract, human resources, insurance, and commercial
litigation needs. His experience with these companies includes extensive drafting and review
of licenses, agreements, and employment documents. Mr. Padilla’s practice is also dedicated
to representing homeowners associations and individuals in construction, construction defect,
collection, employment, personal injury, civil litigation, and criminal defense matters. Mr. Padilla enjoys the opportunity for frequent courtroom action, but also appreciates the need
to achieve solutions for his clients’ problems and issues through alternative dispute resolution
mechanisms. Mr. Padilla prides himself as being a compassionate and creative lawyer who continually
strives to help his clients achieve their important goals. Professional and Community Affiliations Mr. Padilla has been active in the Colorado Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (“CBA/YLD”),
and as a Board Member of its Executive Council. The CBA/YLD focuses on outreach programs for
young lawyers, as well as on charitable and philanthropic events for the local and statewide
communities. Mr. Padilla served on the CBA/YLD Executive Council as its Treasurer from 1998-1999,
Secretary from 1999-2000, Chair Elect from 2000-2001, and its Chair from 2001-2002. In September
of 2002, Mr. Padilla received the Colorado Bar Association’s prestigious Outstanding Young
Lawyer Award. Mr. Padilla has also been a member of other professional organizations, such as
the Denver Bar Association and American Bar Association.
